Hammond Indiana 5 year old makes the Right Call

Tommy Jones called 9-1-1 in the fall of 2003 when his mother had a seizure at their home.  Tommy, very calmly, was able to keep the 9-1-1 dispatcher informed about his mother’s condition and was able to roll her on her side to help keep her airway open while waiting for emergency personnel to arrive.  Thanks to Tommy’s efforts, his mother received the medical treatment she needed. Tommy was recognized for “Making the Right Call” during the Indiana NENA 2004 Annual Conference Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday March 31, 2004.

After the Opening Ceremonies Tommy and his mother enjoyed a chauffered limousine ride to a day at the Indianapolis Zoo which included a close encounter with a dolphin that left several individuals covered with water!  Indiana NENA would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Schneider Corporation for their sponsorship of this year's award and to the Indianapolis Zoo and its staff for creating a memorable day for Tommy, his mother and all involved.
