Indiana NENA Recognizes 2006 NENA 9-1-1 Hero

12 year old Toni Roberts and 9 year old Krystal Reyes both “made the right call” in  2005, when an emergency happened to their families.

 

Toni called 9-1-1 when her mother fell off a ladder breaking her arm in several places.  She remained calm and gave the dispatcher precise information about her mother’s injuries all while comforting her toddler brother.

 

           Krystal called 9-1-1 while trying to escape a fire that broke out in the stairs leading to the family’s upstairs apartment. While Krystal was running thru flames on the stairs she calmly told the dispatcher her address and details of the fire while helping her mother rescue her

           two siblings.

 

           Both girls were recognized during the opening ceremonies if the Indiana NENA conference  in Indianapolis with medals and an award along with a 250.00 gift card sponsored by Miner  Electronics. Indianapolis Zoo provided the family with tickets to help the families enjoy a much needed relaxing day out at the zoo with their “Heroes”.
