is a program designed to
recognize children for heroic 9-1-1 calls and increase the awareness of our industry as
One Nation One Number.
The Indiana Chapter of NENA
9-1-1 Hero program is an important and fun program for 9-1-1 and raises awareness for the
Public Safety industry and our Association. The
Indiana Chapter is proud to continue this excellent program and through our membership
work together to help educate the public about the importance of learning about 9-1-1 and
using the service correctly.
Hero nominees should be
young children (up to age 13) who have made exceptional calls to 9-1-1. Hero calls should be those that were made for the
true emergency use of 9-1-1; to save a life, stop a crime or report a fire. The call ought to have ended positively and the
Hero Nominee should have been able to interact well and assist the dispatcher or call
taker. To nominate a NENA 9-1-1 Hero, download an
application
form and submit to our 9-1-1 Hero
Coordinator.
The nominee(s) selected
will need to be able to travel (with their chaperone) to the Indiana Chapter of NENA
Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. The
selected Hero(s) will be recognized and presented with their awards in April 2 2008, at the
Conference.
